How To Measure For Window Blinds
Handy Hint: It is important that you use
a metal measuring tape as this will provide accurate sizes.
Please supply sizes in millimetres if possible.
Blinds are normally fitted inside the window
reveals and this will provide the best results as it looks
neater. However, this is not always possible so it some
applications the blinds can be "face fixed" or
"surface mounted".
Recess Sizes
If supplying "Recess Sizes" the factory will make
the necessary allowances for the blinds to fit neatly inside
the rebate.
Finished Sizes
If supplying "Finished Sizes" remember to allow
enough overlap on each side and at the top for the blind
to provide sufficient cover. The blinds will then be made
to your exact finished sizes.
Measuring For Blinds
Measure at the top of the window from the plaster reveal
on one side to the plaster reveal on the other side. This
size will be known as the "Recess Width". Then
measure from the top of the plaster (The Head of the window)
to the top of the window cill. It is important to do this
in about three different places as the cill may be higher
up at one end than the other end. Provide the largest (longest)
measurement. This size will be known as the "Recess
Height". Necessary allowances to ensure a neat fit
will be made by the factory.
IMPORTANT If the Blind is to be fitted in a Window Recess
where there is partial tiling in the Window Reveals, e.g.
A Kitchen Window then the "Recess Width" measurement
should be taken between the tiles. This ensures that when
the blind is fitted that it moves up and down freely and
does not fowl on the top of the tile edge.
Measuring for Pleated Roof Blinds
Measure accurately in millimetres the size of the Glass
i.e. Width X Height. For ordering purposes, provide the
Width as "Recess Width" and the Height as "Recess
Height". Allowances to ensure a neat fit will be made
in the factory as necessary.
