If you’ve just invested in some beautiful wooden venetian blinds, you need to know how best to keep them clean so they stand the test of time and don’t need replacing sooner rather than later. Here’s a quick guide to getting it right.
Whatever you do, don’t use detergents and water as you can easily warp the wood of your blinds if you’re not careful. You could also discolour the wood, which you certainly don’t want to do.
First of all, check your blinds over to see if there are any stains or spots and if there are, remove these using a paper towel. If they’re particularly stubborn, use a wood cleaner and a soft cloth to help get rid of them.
Close your blinds so that they lie flat and dust them using a microfiber cloth or a feather duster, brushing downwards so you don’t damage the slats. A vacuum cleaner and a soft brush attachment can come in very handy when cleaning wooden blinds as well.
Alternatively, you could put on a pair of rubber gloves and pass your fingers over the slats to help pick up any dust.
With a bit of tender loving care from time to time, your wood blinds should last a very long time. These make wonderful additions to a home and go with any interior décor, so if you’ve yet to make such an investment now could well be the time.
