  4. Measure the window recess horizontally in 3 places and take the smallest measurement.

Roof Blinds

Measuring for your roof blind is easy – most of the time you won’t even need a tape measure. All you need to do is open up your window, and as you swing it you’ll see a small metal patch on the top. This has the brand name of your window and a code. This will differ depending on the make of your window.

Velux

There are a number of letters and digits on the Velux plate, but you’re only interested in the first six or seven. These are split into two sets. The first of these sets will be three letters long, for example “GGU”, and is your “Window Type” code.

Next to that code will be another one which is three or four characters long, and will look like “C01” or “PK35”. This is the “Size” code.

Simply select these codes on our website when you are filling out your order.

Fakro

On a Fakro plate you will see two numbers divided by a slash or an “x” like this: 78/98 or 78×98.

These are the dimensions of your window in centimetres – the first number is the width, and the second number is the height.

Rooflite

Rooflite windows have one short code on the sash which is three characters long.

It starts and ends with a letter, with a number in between, such as “C2A”.

When you are purchasing your blind, enter this code when you are prompted to choose your side.

Handy Hints

  • Please take care with your measurements. We will produce your custom-made blinds to the sizes you provide. We do not take responsibility for incorrect measurements.
  • Watch out for things like handles, catches, tiles, metal window frames, dado rails and skirting boards when deciding how to fit your blinds. You will need at least 10cm of recess from where your handles protrude if fixing to the lintel.
  • When ordering from our site, make sure you choose Recess or Exact accordingly, depending on the type of measure you have made.

Converting Sizes

  1. To convert centimetres into millimetres, multiply by 10. eg 127.3cm = 127.3 x 10 = 1273mm
  2. To convert inches into millimetres, multiply by 25.4. eg 53 ¼” inches = 53.25 x 25.4 = 1352mm
